1980 Kawasaki “Craig Vetter” Mystery Ship #6

  • Created by AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame designer Craig Vetter to commemorate their 1978 AMA Superbike Series win
  • This motorcycle is number six of the ten Mystery Ships and is one of only two units produced with a turbocharged engine (developed by R.C. Engineering) that offered a 40% “boost” in power
  • Base price was $9,995 plus another $1,700 for the turbocharged option, about three times the cost of a stock KZ1000
  • Vetter also created the 1973 Triumph X-75 Hurricane and was the founder of the Vetter Corporation, the largest motorcycle fairing company (Windjammer) in the world in the 1970’s
  • It features a modified and strengthened frame, rearset footpegs, a gear change linkage system, a steering headstock changed to 25 degrees, Mulholland Force 1 rear shock absorbers, a magnesium box section swing arm, and the beautiful solid spun aluminum wheels
