1994 Harley-Davidson VR1000

  • Incredibly Rare Factory H/D AMA Superbike
  • The VR1000 was first raced in 1994 but mechanical failures and internal funding issues doomed the bike
  • H/D encouraged several private teams to continue to campaign three bikes
  • In 1996 H/D gave Canepa’s 10-K team an extra chassis which was raced by Chris Carr (Pole at Pomona) and enough spares to race for many seasons
  • Engine designed by H/D and then taken to Roush Racing to complete the first running engine in 1989
  • The bike became a rolling test bed of developing parts and new solutions for H/D
  • This bike was raced by Mike Canepa’s 10-K and run out of San Jose Harley-Davidson CA
  • The display on the wall contains some of these spare pieces
